What Is The GMAT Exam All About?

GMAT is an acronym for the Graduate Management Admission Test.

It is an examination that forms an important and very essential part of the business school application process in Nigeria.

The GMAT is a multiple-choice, computer-based, and computer-adaptive standardized exam.

And it is very important because it serves as a requirement for admission to graduate business programs (MBA) globally.

The GMAT is organized by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) and the purpose of the examination is to provide common measures of applicants’ readiness and preparedness for graduate-level academic work.

How Many Times Is GMAT Exam Conducted In A Year?

Graduation Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) is an international level examination that is conducted multiple times in a year.

It offers admission to MBA courses in India and other foreign countries.

GMAT examination can be taken by candidates up to 5 times a year.

What Do The Exam Tests?

The GMAT exam measures and records how well you can perform in the areas of basic arithmetic, algebra, geometry, multi-source data analysis, and grammar.

Steps To Register for GMAT Exam In Nigeria

GMAT registration is very easy. Below are the steps to register for GMAT exam in Nigeria.

Step 1 – Sign up on mba.com

If you are new to the GMAT examination, the starting point is to create an MBA account.

Log on to mba.com and click the sign-up button located at the top right corner of the loaded page.

You will be automatically redirected to the sign-up page and there you will be required to enter your personal information as:

  • First name
  • Last name
  • E-mail address
  • Password

At this stage, you can also choose to set your communication preferences.

You can opt to receive additional information on financial aid, school recruiting, GMAT, management education, and other various offers from business schools and GMAC.

Once you agree to GMAC’s terms of use and privacy, your account has been created successfully and you can move to the next step of your GMAT examination registration process.

Step 2 – Begin the GMAT examination registration process

After step one above, click on the Exams tab on the top of the page and you will be redirected to another page where you will find a ‘Register now’ button towards the end of the page.

Click on the ‘Register Now’ button.

On the next page create your profile by entering your personal information as required:

After you have entered all the information, click on next and your personal details will be stored.

Step 3 – Enter your personal information.

On the next page, you will have to provide the following information:

  • Country/ Region of residence
  • Address
  • Primary telephone number
  • Mobile telephone number
  • Correspondence language

After you entered the above information, you have to click ‘Next’ button and wait for the next page.

On the next page you will continue your personal details entering.

Some of the required information here are compulsory while some others are optional.

You will be asked to fill in your demographic information, such as:

  • Date of Birth
  • Gender
  • Country of citizenship
  • First or native language ( this is optional)
  • Second language (this is optional)
  • Third language (this is optional)

On the following page, you will fill in your communication preferences.

You would be asked to choose if you would like to connect with graduate business schools, scholarship organizations, and strategic partners of GMAC who participate in the GMASS® service.

And if you would like to receive the information via Phone or SMS/ Text.

Step 4: Enter Other Optional Information.

This step is a segment that requests for you to fill in totally optional information.

You can choose to fill in the information or skip them.

This is the academic information you can enter here:

  • Highest level of education attended.
  • The institution from where you got your degree.
  • Month and year of graduation or expected graduation.
  • Undergraduate major or primary field of study.
  • Undergraduate secondary field of study.
  • Overall undergraduate GPA (GPA conversion table is provided).

You will still be asked to enter information about your work experience.

Still an optional section of the registration.

Required Work experience information is:

  • Work experience
  • Job function and industry
  • Your military experience, if any
  • Current or last company

It will next ask you for information related to your plans for business school, when you plan to start a graduate management program, the region where you plan to pursue, the kind of graduate management degree you want to pursue, which specialization do you want to pursue, and which job and industry you plan to work in after graduating?

Step 5 – Verify your profile

This step is where you will verify your created profile.

You will click on the ‘save profile’ button, the following information will pop up.

If you already have an account on mba.com then you don’t have to go through the above process. You can start directly by scheduling your GMAT exam.

Step 6: Schedule your GMAT exam

You will choose to schedule your GMAT exam yourself.

You have the option to select up to 3 GMAT test centers nearest to your preferred location.

If you select a city you reside in or the city you wish to write the exam, you will be given options of centers that are close by and you can select up to 3 test centers.

You need to choose the right test centers for your exam to reduce the cost and risk that might be involved.

Make a research on the factors required to choose a test center.

On clicking the ‘next button, you’ll be prompted to choose a date for the examination.

When you click the ‘next ‘ button again, the system will generate available dates that are close to the date you’ve chosen already.

But if you can’t find a suitable date from the list, you can change the center and try it again.

When you find a time you can settle with, you simply need to select it and you’ll also need to select an appointment time. Morning or afternoon.

Step 7 – Pay the GMAT registration fee

The next page will let you very your appointment and you will have 15 minutes to complete your order.

Next, you will click on the complete your order’ button and the next page will ask you to agree to policies.

After agreeing to the policies,

Click the’ next’ button and the payments page will pop up. After you complete the payment, you will receive the ‘Official GMAT Exam Confirmation’ e-mail from GMAC.

Now, the GMAT Registration process is complete. Time to buckle up and wait for the exam date.

You can reschedule your exam by clicking on the ‘reschedule exam’ button. But this will cost $60.
