However, Airtel allows its subscribers to share a data plan with family and friends across phones, tablets, and laptops.

But sadly, not everybody knows about this, and that is why some people allow their data to waste instead of sharing it with their friends.

How to share data on Airtel

There are many ways to share data on airtel, you can share data on airtel to another Airtel user by using Data Me2U.

With Data Me2U, you can share data from the data allowance of an already purchased data bundle with another customer. For example, if you subscribed to 1.5GB Monthly, you can transfer 100MB to another Airtel user.

However, the shared data will have the same validity as the original data. For example,  If you have a bundle with a validity end date of 1st Jan 2020, and you share some of that data; the recipient’s data will also expire on 1st Jan 2020.

With Data Me2U you can share a maximum of 200MB of data with one person, and you can only share data with a maximum of 2 recipients daily.

This means that you can share a maximum of 200MB each with 2 recipients daily.

To share or transfer data to another airtel user, simply dial *141# and select the option for Gifting or Me2U.

Furthermore, you can also share data on airtel with another airtel user by using Data Gifting.

Data gifting allows you to buy a data bundle plan for another customer by paying with your own airtime. For example, if your friend or loved ones request data from you, you can just buy another data plan for the person instead of transferring it from your data bundle.

Data Gifting allows you to buy a data bundle for another line, and you can gift data to as many people, and as many times as you wish.

However,  to gift data, simply dial *141# and select the option for Gifting or Me2U.

To prevent an unauthorized person from doing Data Sharing/Gifting from a customer’s phone, a Pin is demanded before you can share or gift data.

When you access Data Sharing/Gifting for the first time, you will be required to change your Pin from the default Pin to any Pin you choose to use.

However, below are the ways you can share data on Airtel.

1. Share Data On Airtel Through Data Me2U

To share data on Airtel through Data Me2U, kindly follow the steps below.

1. Dial *141#

2. Select Data Gifting & Sharing

3. Select Data Me2U 

4. Select Send Me2U from existing data

5. Enter the recipient’s Phone Number

6. Enter PIN to confirm the data transfer.

The maximum Data amount you can send to someone through Data Me2U is 200MB, and the maximum number of persons you can send to is two.

2. Share Data On Airtel Through Data Gifting

To share data on airtel through data gifting, kindly follow the steps below.

1. Dial *141#

2. Select Data Gifting & Sharing

3. Select Data Gifting to continue.

4. Select your desired data bundle type and size.

5. Enter the recipient’s phone number

6. Enter PIN to confirm the data transfer.

Data Gifting allows you to buy a data bundle for as many persons you want to, and as many times you wish.

How To Change Airtel Data Gifting & Sharing Default Pin

Before you share data on airtel with anybdy, a four digit pin would be required from you to complete your transaction.

When you access Data Sharing/Gifting for the first time, you will be required to change your PIN from the default PIN (1234) to any PIN you want to use.

It is necessary to change the airtel data gifting and sharing default pin to prevent someone from doing Data Sharing/Gifting from your phone without your consent.

To change your Airtel Data Gifting & Sharing PIN, kindly follow the steps below.

1. Dial *141#and send.

2. Select gifting and sharing. 

3. Select change pin.

4. Enter the old pin which is the default pin if you have not changed the pin before.

5. Comfirm the new pin.

After confirming the new pin, you will receive a confirmation message stating that the change is successful.
