After which, click Send. A test message will be sent to your phone containing a download link through the number you added. Hence, ensure the number is in a phone before adding it and clicking on the send button.
4. Next, using the link in the SMS sent to your phone, download the Android app called Your Phone Companion.
It’s required when linking Android phone to Windows 10 and use the Continue on PC feature. The SMS contains a link to install the Microsoft Launcher app. On iOS, it installs Microsoft Edge browser.
Once that is done, you can now use the new ‘Continue on PC’ button in the Cortana and Edge browser. For any news story you read, you can send it to your PC by tapping that button.
Note that this linking is only a one-time process. However, if for some issue you feel to delete your phone app from your PC, you can follow the steps again to add your device to your Windows 10 PC.
Once you have successfully linked your phone to your PC with the first app, you can easily install other Microsoft apps on your phone to turn on cross-device experiences.
How to Link Windows Phone to Windows 10
For Windows phones, there is no need to pass through the above processes because through your Microsoft account, your phone is already synced with your PC. However, cross-device experiences are not the same as other phones.
The app you’ll receive when you link your phone and PC will depend on the type of phone (iPhone or Android), your locale, and other factors.
Can the Continue on PC Feature Work In an Android Tablet Device?
This feature can work very well in any Android Tablet. If your Android Tablet subscriber identity module (SIM) card enabled, you can simply follow the process above and you will successfully link your Android Tablet.
What Should I Do if My Tablet Has No Sim Card?
If your Android Tablet has no subscriber identity module (SIM) card, you can still install the Your Phone Companion for Android directly on your Android tablet.
However, some of the features will not be available to you.
Most tablets are not SIM card enabled, hence, they have no phone number. Since they have no phone number, there is no way to send and read messages.
Hence that feature will not be available for Android Tablet with no SIM Card.
